For my Drama [I mean Beauty] Queen

You are one of the only kids I know who reads my blog, who even knows I have a blog. And ever since you started, you’ve begged me to write a post for you.

You.

There’s so many words and ideas I want to cram into your brain that I don’t even know where to start.

You’re dramatic. You’re sassy. You’re cranky and oftentimes over-emotional. But you’re you. And you’re always you no matter who is around… and that is something everyone should admire.

I know you’ve faced struggles, struggles the majority of your friends don’t even know. But, like I tell all of my students, your past does not define you. Your mistakes or things you wish you could take back… they don’t define. Your thoughts, worries, anxieties, fears… they don’t define you either. The way you live in the present, the now, that is what defines you. So make it count.

I encourage you to always be true to yourself, break away from the mold society wants you to fit into, and learn to pray without ceasing. A young lady with as much spirit as you have has the potential to make an impact on her world. You know you have that potential, and I urge you to use it for good. Be willing to be a light because people are drawn to light. If someone says something hurtful, don’t repeat it. If someone does something awful, don’t spread it. You have the power to make good happen, so go spread goodness!

I pray for you to have strength, courage, and peace of mind. I pray for your thoughts to be always positive and uplifting. I pray for you to worry about nothing and, instead, pray for everything. I pray for you to be thankful for your blessings and to be blessed in your future. I pray for you to be a light for others.

Father God,

Renew this child’s heart with Your strength and purpose. Forgive her mistakes and give her the strength to stand against evil. Protect her mind from negative thoughts and saturate it with Your strength, Your goodness, and Your peace.  Help her to surrender control to You, so that You may lead her and guide her to Your goodness and blessings. You have a plan for her life, so use her as vessel to accomplish holy things. Whenever she is stressed, anxious, or afraid, help her to remember to turn to You, for You are our Protector and Deliverer. Let her know Your peace and goodness, so that she can be a light for others.

In Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen.
